Best option by situation
Fastest to the station
Take the LTG Link airport train if your timing fits and your hotel is near the station, Old Town south side or Naujamiestis.
Direct to central Vilnius
Use 1 or 2 for Stotis, or compare 88 and 3G for the city centre. Choose the stop closest to your accommodation before boarding; these routes do not all follow the same streets.
Easiest with luggage
Use Bolt or Uber. You see the price before ordering and avoid negotiating with drivers outside the terminal.
Train
The airport train station is a short walk from the terminal and the ride to Vilnius railway station takes about 7-8 minutes. It is cheap and quick, but it does not run all night and it drops you at the station rather than directly at an Old Town hotel.
Bus
The airport stop is called Oro uostas. Routes 1 and 2 go to Stotis, the railway and coach-station area; route 2 runs via Liepkalnio gatvė. Route 88 goes through the centre towards Europos aikštė. Express bus 3G also serves the centre and continues towards Šeškinė and Perkūnkiemis. Choose by the hotel’s actual address, then use the departure board or JUDU journey planner for the direction and next departure. Journey time depends on the route, stop and traffic.
Bolt, Uber and taxi
Ride-hailing is the simplest option after a late flight, with children, or with heavy bags. Order in the app and follow the pickup instructions. Avoid accepting unsolicited rides from drivers at the terminal exit. Official taxi ranks exist, but app pricing is easier to judge.
Walking?
Do not plan on walking from the airport to the Old Town with luggage. The distance looks short on a map, but walking takes much longer than the train, bus or a car booked through an app.
Where this matters for hotel choice
Naujamiestis and the station side of Old Town are especially convenient for early departures. Deep Old Town is better for atmosphere but usually easier by Bolt than by dragging luggage over cobbles.
Finding and paying for the airport train
Follow the railway signs from arrivals. The airport railway stop is about a two-minute walk from the arrivals terminal, with stairs and a lift to the platform. The ride to Vilnius railway station takes up to eight minutes and a standard one-way ticket costs €0.90. Buy an LTG Link ticket online, in its app, at the platform ticket machine or on the train. Seats are unreserved. A JUDU bus ticket does not cover this train; allow for the walk to the platform and the next departure when comparing it with a bus.
Paying on the bus with a bank card
For a straightforward adult journey, tap one supported contactless bank card, phone or watch on the onboard validator. This buys and automatically activates a 60-minute ticket for €1.25. Hold it still until the green confirmation and long beep; a red X with two short beeps means payment failed. One card buys only one ticket at a time, so a group needs separate cards or tickets in an app. This contactless ticket is full fare, without concessions.
App tickets and transfers
A standard 30-minute bus ticket costs €1.00 and a 60-minute ticket €1.25. Both allow transfers within their validity. Buying a ticket in an app is separate from activating it: activate the correct ticket for each passenger for the journey. The JUDU app has a 15-second activation delay, so prepare it before travelling. It can activate several passengers’ tickets. If your journey includes a connection or a longer ride across the centre, the 60-minute ticket gives more time than the 30-minute option.
Arriving after the daytime services
N8 links the airport with Naujininkai, Stotis and the city centre every night. The central terminus differs at weekends, so select the arrival date and your hotel address in the journey planner rather than assuming the daytime 88 route or stop pattern. Normal city-bus fares also apply at night. The airport train does not run through the night. After a delayed flight, compare the next N8 departure with a car transfer; a missed daytime train is not a reason to wait at the railway platform overnight.
Finding your booked car or the taxi rank
The designated Bolt pickup area is beside the intercity bus stops. Follow the pickup location shown in your booking rather than waiting in the official taxi queue. Airport taxis wait outside arrivals and show the approved tariffs on stickers inside the vehicle; payment is available by card or cash. Read the tariff before setting off and keep the receipt. For an app ride, use the fare shown for your actual destination and pickup time rather than a fixed city-centre price.
