Check the city filter before making a shortlist
Visit Šiauliai’s directory covers the city and surrounding districts, and separates hotels, apartments, guest houses and rural stays. First keep only the places that fit your journey; then compare their room offers. For a concrete city example, its Šaulys listing gives Vasario 16-osios street 40. Use the address, not the hotel name or a photograph of the pedestrian street, to check the route from your station and the place where you want to spend the evening. The directory also lists Turnė. For central walks, include Vilniaus Street and the cathedral; a pedestrian-street address may use another entrance for luggage or parking.
Staying near Lake Talkša
The tourism centre describes public walking and cycling recreation beside Lake Talkša. That makes the lake a useful destination when choosing an address, but it does not mean a nearby room includes sports equipment, a private shoreline or lake views. Map the entrance you plan to use and the way back after dinner. If you need a quiet bedroom or step-free access, ask the accommodation about that room and approach, rather than drawing conclusions from the waterside setting.
Plan both ends of a short stay
For one night, write down your arrival station, luggage plan and next morning’s departure before choosing a room. If the Hill of Crosses is the main reason for stopping, settle the return transport as well as the outward trip. A room in the centre can suit meals and museums while still leaving a separate excursion to organise. For an apartment, confirm key collection and luggage storage; for a hotel, check whether an early breakfast fits your actual departure. The city’s official arrival guide covers rail and bus travel.
Šaulys: rooms for couples, families and extra space
Šaulys is at Vasario 16-osios g. 40. Its room choices include singles, doubles or twins, a triple and a quadruple, so a party of three or four can compare a room designed for that number with an extra-bed offer. Superior doubles have sleeping and sitting areas; the larger apartments have separate sleeping and sitting rooms. Air conditioning is available in most standard rooms, rather than every room, so choose the room category carefully if that matters for a summer stay.
Turnė: two different addresses
The Turnė hotel at Rūdės g. 9 is a central option with double and triple rooms, suites, private bathrooms, a 24-hour reception and free parking. That combination suits a driving stop or a late arrival better than an apartment requiring a timed key handover. The Turnė guest house is a separate listing at Rokiškio g. 8A. Use the full property name and address when arranging arrival; the hotel and guest house are not the same check-in destination.
Arriving without a car and visiting the Hill of Crosses
The bus station is at Tilžės g. 109 and the railway station at Dubijos g. 44. Choose the hotel route from the station you will actually use, allowing for luggage. For the Hill of Crosses, search the Šiauliai–Domantai bus journey: from Domantai it is about 2 km on foot to the hill, followed by the same distance back to the stop for Šiauliai. Plan the return service before leaving. A taxi can go directly to the hill and wait by prior arrangement, which avoids this walk when time or mobility is limited.
